In response to the Beirut explosion that occurred on August 4th, 2020, artist Rumi Dalle repurposed materials found during the aftermath to create Once Upon a Time in Beirut. From the shattered stained glass found at Linda Sursock’s Palace to the marble remains of St. Demetrius Cemetery, Dalle created compositions by experimenting with these unconventional materials. As an artist concerned with emotional impact, Dalle’s edition conjures up the memories and histories of different locations in Beirut.
