Lines is a collage series of found pieces from an old family dictionary (Mo’jam in Arabic) discovered by Khelil in her grandfather’s apartment. The shredded pages were torn apart by mice after her Grandfather's death in 2012 and inspired Khelil to create new texts by placing words and sentences together in reimagined ways. This project is bathed in a nostalgic bath of her childhood spent alongside her grandfather, a philosopher and academic, still immersed in books. These encyclopaedic pieces that punctuate the Lines series, draw territories and common places of knowledge. They extend a family memory and reflect a cradling culture between bibliophile and bibliophage (bookworm), conservation and conservatism.
