Artist Edition: "May 2016" by Johanna Unzueta

In 2013, Johanna Unzueta embarked on a new chapter in her career, creating abstract drawings inspired by mathematical exercises of set and subset. In these patterns, Unzueta perceived echoes of the ideas of community and collaboration that had always been at the root of her art. This limited edition print is created from a drawing of that series titled May 2016, NY after the time and place of its composition. Originally, the drawing was displayed in an apparatus inspired by the “glass easels” of Lina Bo Bardi, which allowed viewers to circle the work and encounter it as s 3-dimensional object rather than as a flat image.
